What size trolling motor should i go for... 30lbs to 55lbs thrust? 1980's coleman crawdad approx 11-12 feet - coleman crawdad

I'm trying to rebuild this boat as being used only in small lakes / ponds, we should do well. that the gasoline engine, the front, I would no longer function can be used. I'm looking for something that simply allow this boat to cruise around with a small battery decent. I am interested in the motors Minn Kota Endura 30/36/55.

I would advise you to 36 or higher. Observe the speed of the battery life of the battery from an average low is only 2 hours. You can use a little more time outside the top-of-the-line Deep) cycle battery (like Optima Batteries Plus. I suggest you have two batteries to ensure (that they are deep cycle batteries, car batteries leak is usually much faster) and in parallel. This will be able to double the time you spend in the water.

For this size. For a gas engine to do well around 3.5 hp. To pull a motor of 35 pounds would be nice. But if you are a little faster troll, 55 fine

Get the 55 ... the battery is empty just a little more, but the trend is much better and you can always get a lower speed. So, go to Sears and a good cycle battery Deep Navy towed (cost approximately $ 80.00 ).... ensure that they receive a starter battery. If you leave any money in return you get a good 3-4 years used .... never be stored directly on the concrete! Tight Lines!
PS: I have a Sears Die Hard battery to the traction motor, the front of my boat, a Motorguide 42 lb. thrust and can go 10 hours or more with a fully charged battery ... If you only 2 hours, you are doing something wrong!
